FORMULA SAE

Formula SAE is an international motorsport competition for Engineering Students. In 1999 Brunel University formed a team of 14 students to compete in this competition. The competition brief was to design and build a racing car as a motorsport product for club racers to compete in motorsport. The cars utilise lightweight and efficient motocycle engines and transmissions. With the experience gained at Jedi Racing I brought their expertise in utilising motorcycle engine/transmission units for racing car application.

Being the first year in which Brunel competed the challenges were great but we won the Overall Design prize for Class 2. The success of that first year was the foundation for the University having an active team in formula SAE from 1999 till the present day.
